So you asked for the gift. My experience is that most “professional fundraisers” never solicit contributions. They have meetings. They push papers. They get to know their donors. But they shy away from actually soliciting the gift.
You’re different!
And that’s great!
You’re among the best.
But to be among the elite you’ve got to deal with objections.
I used to hate objections. I just wanted the donor to say yes.
But as my great mentor Jerold Panas once wrote, “A gift at the proper level won’t be made until every concern, no matter how inappropriate or trivial, is satisfied… If you don’t respond to all possible objections, you’re not going to get the gift at the level you want.”
How do you deal with objections?
